Tirana Futsal defeats APOEL 8-6

Tirana Futsal has started its adventure in the UEFA Futsal Champions League 2026/27 in the most spectacular way. The Albanian champions have given a match with extraordinary emotions at the Olympic Park "Feti Borova", overthrowing APOEL and triumphing with a score of 8-6.

The match started in the worst possible way for the white and blue team, as the Cypriot team scored twice in the first minute through Fagundes. But Tirana did not give up and reacted immediately, launching a spectacular comeback.

In the 8th minute, Maxharraj narrowed the gap, while Selmanaj equalized in the 11th minute. Fagundes scored again a minute later, completing his personal hat-trick, but Tirana showed character and in the 13th minute, Muca restored the balance.

The Whites and Blues had already taken control of the game and the end of the first half was a real explosion. Limani scored in the 18th minute, while Kelmendi scored in the 19th minute, ending the first half with Tirana in the lead.

In the second half, the Albanian champions continued to play at a high pace and dominate the game. Selmanaj scored his second personal goal in the 24th minute, while Alibegu scored a minute later.

Tirana was unstoppable and in the 26th minute Kelmendi scored his second goal, bringing the score to an incredible 8-3 advantage.

APOEL tried to get back into the game. Dos Santos Sousa scored in the 29th minute, while Tzakidis scored in the 31st minute. In the 39th minute, Tzakidis found the net again, but the Cypriots' efforts were not enough.

Tirana Futsal resisted until the end and secured a big 8-6 victory, starting the European adventure with a spectacular upset and a strong message to the group rivals.

In the other group match, Hjørring defeated Cardiff 9-2.

But for Tirana, there is no time for a long celebration. Tonight, on August 27, at 20:45, the Albanian champions will take to the court again, this time against Futsal Club Cardiff, again at the “Feti Borova” Olympic Park.

After the crazy upset against APOEL, Tirana Futsal is looking for another big step towards qualification.
