During the interview held this Thursday on Euronews Albania, the leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, was asked by moderator Erla Mëhilli about the possibility of a scenario similar to that of Serbia in political developments.

Berisha rejected any parallelism between the two countries, describing the Serbian movement as a movement led by a state sector such as the rectorate. He stressed that the Student Movement in Albania has a different history and gave the credit for the protests to his former official, the head of the independent university unions, Sandër Kovaç. The latter was a former director at SHISH, a former ambassador during the DP government.

Excerpts from the discussion:

Are you afraid of a Serbian scenario, Mr. Berisha, what happened in Serbia, where the list returned with a political alternative but also erased the opposition?

Berisha: Yes , they tried exactly the Serbian script. But let me say one thing, the Serbian script is not the one that is read today. The Serbian Student Movement was a movement led by the rector of the university, such as the rector of the University of Tirana.

And that rector, which is the truth, was appointed by Aleksandar Vučić. The deans of those faculties were appointed by the president of the republic, the president of Serbia, and he led the movement. That movement, led by a state sector such as the rectorate, they dismissed the rector four months ago because it turned out that he was implicated in the Danube mirror of the Alalabari project.

And they chose this Mr. Sedanovic, the cardiologist from Novi Sad. So that movement, when comparing the incomparable, builds a pyramid of fraud. No comparison whatsoever with an extraordinary three-week movement in Tirana.

The student movement has its own history and those who try to falsify and deceive its history will get what they deserve. That movement, please, has been called by the president of the independent university unions.

He announced and called a student protest on October 13th for the demands that this union had submitted to the Ministry of Education some time ago.
