Serbia reacted to the Hague decision through Deputy Prime Minister Ivica Dacic , who immediately described it as confirmation of Serbia's claims about the KLA.
"The verdict against Hashim Thaçi, Jakup Krasniqi, Kadri Veseli and Rexhep Selim proved that the KLA was a criminal and terrorist organization and that its senior political and military leaders were responsible for crimes during the war in Kosovo," Dacic said.
This reaction came despite the fact that the Specialist Chambers tried the four accused on the basis of their individual criminal responsibility.
They were found guilty of war crimes, while they were acquitted of charges of crimes against humanity.
Dacic criticized the dropping of charges for crimes against humanity, calling it a "political maneuver" and claiming that the decision minimizes the suffering of Serbian victims.
According to him, even the sentences given are not sufficient for the families of the victims.
