OpenAI CEO Sam Altman has called on people to have more trust in artificial intelligence companies and their efforts to develop the technology responsibly.
During a conference held on Tuesday in San Francisco, Altman said that the public must trust that AI companies will do the "right thing," underlining the importance and weight of responsibility that the development of this technology carries.
"The world must trust that we will do the right thing, because it is the right thing and we feel the magnitude of this responsibility," Altman said.
However, the head of OpenAI acknowledged that public concerns about the dangers of artificial intelligence are justified. According to him, the capabilities of AI tools have developed at a very rapid pace and it is now easier to imagine scenarios in which this technology could be used dangerously.
"The world has a right to be afraid of this," Altman said, referring to the potential dangers of artificial intelligence.
The statements were made during his participation in the annual conference organized by the technology company Salesforce.
