Dutch police have increased security measures near the Kosovo Specialist Chambers in The Hague, ahead of the verdict against four former KLA leaders. Police officers have been stationed outside the building and have asked citizens gathered there not to stay longer than two minutes in front of the court.
In a press release, the Specialist Chambers announced that the police presence is related to the mobilization of a large number of people expected to be present before the Tribunal.
The first instance decision for former KLA leaders Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Rexhep Selimi and Jakup Krasniqi is expected to be announced around 10:00 am.
Meanwhile, security measures have also been increased in Kosovo, with a giant screen set up in the main square of Pristina to broadcast the hearing from The Hague. Increased security measures have also been announced in other cities in the country, due to possible rallies and protests.
Meanwhile, after the United States, France has also called on its citizens in Kosovo to be vigilant this Wednesday, due to the announced rallies.
The four former KLA leaders have been facing charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity for nearly six years, which they have consistently denied.
