Unusual methods: Emirates uses 'secret' tankers to extract oil from

The United Arab Emirates is using unconventional methods to export oil through the Strait of Hormuz as conflict in the region continues to restrict maritime traffic and increase risks to energy transport.

According to data from industry sources and maritime traffic analysis, several oil tankers have passed through the strait with their tracking systems turned off, a practice intended to avoid detection and potential attacks from Iran, Reuters writes.

These shipments represent only a small portion of the Emirates' usual exports, but they show the willingness of producers and buyers to take risks in order to unblock the remaining oil supply in the Persian Gulf.

In April, state-owned ADNOC exported at least 6 million barrels of oil via four tankers, including the Upper Zakum and Das. The cargoes were transferred offshore or sent to refineries in Southeast Asia and South Korea.

The de facto closure of the Strait of Hormuz following the escalation of the US-Iran conflict has blocked a significant portion of global energy supply, pushing oil prices above $100 per barrel.

Meanwhile, other Gulf countries, such as Iraq, Kuwait and Qatar, have reduced or stopped exports, while Saudi Arabia is using alternative routes through the Red Sea.

The use of "invisible" tankers underscores the high tension in one of the most important arteries of global energy trade, where any disruption has an immediate impact on the world economy.
