Clashes with former US ambassador Donald Lu and debates over Justice Reform. Adriatik Llalla speaks for the first time about his declaration as persona non grata by the United States of America, raising questions about the reasons that led to this decision.

In an interview with Anisa Bahiti on the "On The Road" show on Top News, the former chief prosecutor says that the possibility cannot be ruled out that clashes with the American diplomat influenced the decision-making of American authorities.

Llalla recalls that investigations were launched against him for several issues after the end of his mandate, but the process ended with a conviction for failure to declare assets.

"In addition to clashes with the ambassador, debates mainly related to Justice Reform, anything could have had an impact ," Llalla said.

He also questions the way the decision to declare him persona non grata was made, claiming that there had been no previous media publications labeling him for corruption.

"So, in order to punish or declare an official non grata, it must be proven in advance what basis this has. I have addressed the State Department, the response came, the decision was made based on the opinions it has,"  stated Adriatik Llalla.

If he were to face former US ambassador Donald Lu today, Adriatik Llalla says he would not prefer to engage in a debate with him again.

"I would prefer not to be part of the debate with that official anymore. I had experienced what it is like to have a different opinion with him and I no longer want to be part of the debate," Llalla said.
