A quantity of 300 tons of carcinogenic dust at the Ferrochrome Plant in Elbasan, owned by the concessionaire firm "Albchrome", has been seized by the prosecution, as part of the investigative file against the concessionaire firm. The scandal was revealed a few days ago by a report by the National Environment Agency, which concluded that large quantities released from the Plant are extremely harmful to all workers and residents of the area, even causing serious illnesses.

The suspicions are that, for a long time, the concessionaire firm "Albchrome", which also manages the Plant, has left this dangerous amount in the open sky, taking no measures, while the fact that no controlling body prevented such a massacre is very strange. A few days ago, the Elbasan Prosecutor's Office ordered an inspection of the scene, while currently it has found a record amount of waste.

The Elbasan Prosecution Office has seized over 300 tons of powder extracted from the Ferrochrome Plant of the concessionaire Albchrome. According to exclusive documents available to Vox News, on November 6, 2026, the prosecution body made the decision to seize.

"We, Kreshnik Ajazi, Jonida Allushi and Vasjana Postol, acting as prosecutors in the Elbasan Prosecution Office, have determined that, after being familiar with the criminal proceedings, such as the examination of the crime scene accompanied by a photographic table, as well as for the needs of the investigation of this criminal proceeding, we consider it necessary to seize material evidence of the quantity of approximately 300 tons of waste suspected of being hazardous waste, as they are considered necessary for the verification of the facts that are the subject of the criminal investigation ," the document states.

Further, the three prosecutors write in the document that "based on the nature of the item that we assess should be seized, we estimate that the item should be left in the custody of the entity 'Albchrome' shpk, which has the obligation to preserve and present the item when requested by the proceeding body."

“Me zbatimin e këtij vendimi ngarkohen oficerët e policisë gjyqësore z. Bledar Xhoxhaj dhe z. Hasan Asllani, të asistuar nga eksperti kriminalist i Drejtorisë Vendore të Policisë Elbasan. Një kopje e këtij vendimi i dorëzohet personit përgjegjës të vendit ku do të kryhet këqyrja”, thuhet në vendim.

Disa ditë më parë, Agjencia Kombëtare e Mjedisit publikoi një raport për Fabrikën e Ferrokromit, në Elbasan, në pronësi të firmës koncesionare Albchrome. Sipas raportit, janë konstatuar mbi 300 tonë pluhura të kapura nga filtrat e oxhaqeve, të klasifikuara me kode të rrezikshme mjedisore.

Në të njëjtin dokument shkruhet se këto mbetje përmbajnë koncentrime të larta të metaleve të rënda, madje ato ishin paketuar me thasë të thjeshtë dhe ishin lënë në qiell të hapur prej më shumë se një viti. Gjithashtu, inspektorët e AKM-së evidentuan se firma koncesionare nuk kishte menaxhuar mirë skorjet e ferrokromit.

Vend depozitimi i tyre ishte i pa izoluar, pa rrethim dhe pa asnjë kanalizim mbrojtës. Madje, ishin lënë në kontakt me shiun dhe në qiell të hapur. Ujërat e ndotur që gjenerohen nga procesi rridhnin jashtë çdo kontrolli, thithen nga toka dhe helmojnë basenet e ujërave nëntokësore në Papër.

Raporti vijonte se thithja e pluhurit dhe konsumi i ujit të ndotur shkaktojnë direkt kancer të mushkërive, si dhe rritin ndjeshëm rrezikun për kancer të stomakut, mëlçisë dhe veshkave. Përveç rrezikut tumoral, ekspozimi i vazhdueshëm ndaj këtyre mbetjeve shkakton dëmtime të rënda të rrugëve respiratore, si bronkit kronik dhe fibroza të pakthyeshme, si dhe mbart veti mutagjene që dëmtojnë direkt ADN-në, duke shfaqur rreziqe serioze riprodhuese për gratë shtatzëna.
