The leader of the Freedom Party, Ilir Meta, has reacted from the cell to the European Commission's progress report on Albania, as a 'regression report'.
Through a post on social media, Meta stated that Prime Minister Edi Rama borrowed the term 'last kilometer' from the opposition, to sell to the public, according to him, the 'achievements' listed in the progress report.
Meta accuses the government of failures in the functioning of the rule of law, weakening parliamentary control and violating the independence of the judiciary.
He also raises concerns about the elections, citing allegations of manipulation and the lack of investigations into the Dibra and Shijak files.
Ironically mocking Rama's expression about the "last kilometer", Meta states that the prime minister has also invented the "last centimeter" to gain time in what he describes as the agony of governance.
The former president also brings to attention the 2019 local elections, as well as the situation in the Municipality of Tirana, where he accuses Rama of putting pressure on Mayor Erion Veliaj. He emphasizes that Prime Minister Rama is trying to forcefully and blackmail Veliaj into signing the Municipality of Tirana before the elections.
Ilir Meta's reaction:
'The last centimeter', as an alibi for endless agony
Brazen, as never before, and exhausted even in his vocabulary, Edi Rama today borrowed the term "last kilometer" from the opposition, to sell to the public the "achievements" of the latest Progress Report of the European Union, which is only an indisputable Regression Report for anyone with the most superficial knowledge of the integration process.
In short, the European Commission's Progress Report proves to us that the rule of law does not function at all in reality, but only on paper.
Because the Assembly has lost its controlling and supervisory function over the Government (executive) and the opposition has been denied the parliamentary investigative committees guaranteed by the Constitution.
Likewise, in Albania, Edi Rama is a guarantor of justice with double standards, or a guarantor of independence before the law, as well as a controller (blackmailer) of the justice system.
Of course, the merger of the party with the state comes thanks to unequal and manipulated elections, which remain such as a result of the lack of investigations into electoral crimes, starting with the Dibra and Shijak files.
While the "progress" of public administration is evidenced by the fact that Albania has benefited from zero funds from the European Union's Growth Plan for Albania, due to the incompetence of the patronage administration, where every year hundreds and thousands of directors resign en masse on the orders of the Party Chairman.
Even in the field of the environment, the "progress" is so great that it has provoked the largest protests in the country since the fall of communism, according to the Regres-Report itself.
But accustomed to selling failures as successes, Edi Rama continues his stale monologue.
But now, in addition to the last kilometer, which he "stole" from the opposition, he also invented the "last centimeter" as an alibi to buy time for the endless agony into which he has plunged the government of the most corrupt country in Europe.
Far be it from him to continue as Prime Minister for another 15 years, for he will invent even the "last millimeter".
I have no illusions about this public violator of the Constitution, the law, minors, children, high school students, students, teachers, lecturers and all honest and patriotic Albanians, who have been denied for years the opportunity for their country to be a worthy member of the European Union.
Well, some may have forgotten the history of the Fier District because 15 years have passed, but have you forgotten the illegal and one-party elections that it held in June 2019?
Have you forgotten the official request of the Bundestag then that Albania hold pluralistic local elections, as a condition for opening negotiations with the EU in October 2019 (that year)?
But what did this integration need in front of the pan of unlimited power?
Look at what he is doing to his Mayor of Tirana to take away, through force and blackmail, the right to sign for the Municipality (magazine) of Tirana before the elections.
This inventor of "mirror" and "dialogue", who even mocked the socialists of the 15 municipalities that he treacherously dissolved with a stroke of a pencil.
Therefore, it is time to end the agony of Edi Rama's government and the abyss that is taking us away from European standards.
