Prime Minister Edi Rama has come out in a strong defense of the "Mountains Package", rejecting the accusations and demands for its cancellation, which he has described as misunderstandings or attitudes of those who only see the mountains from the city.

In a broad live reaction on social media, Rama explained that the essence of the package is not the alienation of territories, but rather providing a real opportunity for citizens and immigrants who have inherited properties to turn them into economic assets.

The head of government emphasized that tourism is becoming an increasingly significant pillar of the economy, while this package serves precisely as a supportive policy for people and property development.

Rama: Here we are not in conditions where mountains are being sold. Here we are in conditions where mountains are being opened up to those who have inherited property in the mountains. We are in conditions where thousands of emigrants have expressed interest because they want to invest. Tourism will become an increasingly significant economy.

The mountains package is a policy for the people, the right to property, the development of property. A policy that suits those who for years have not been able to turn their property into a financial asset. 

What would it mean to cancel the mountain package, meaning that these people would be left in suspense because some people who see the mountains from the city, I haven't seen any community of these affected because they don't have this package, to be led to say that this package is taking away our properties. 

They can't wait for it, this is the result of many conversations, of many efforts, it's not something that was born in the blink of an eye. There is elite tourism and that's why the villages of Switzerland are so rich, because the tourists there pay a lot of money. It's a package for immigrants because they have the same rights, and they can't enjoy them because Law 7501 doesn't give them because they don't have papers.
