The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, denounced Prime Minister Edi Rama in a press conference today, July 21, based on the statements of MEP Tomas Zdeçovski.
Berisha said that the EU MP publicly accused Rama of using his family members to transport suspicious money abroad.
According to the leader of the DP, the MEP confirmed that money stolen from Albanians and that of traffickers is being pursued.
"Today I am here for the statement of the Member of the European Parliament, Tomas Zdeçovski, who yesterday denounced in one of the Tirana media outlets, Edi Rama as the man who uses his family members to transport money abroad.
"Zdeçovski emphasizes that we are following the money. We are therefore following this criminal activity of Edi Rama with the money stolen from Albanians or the money of Albanian traffickers."
He described this as the most serious indictment ever made against the prime minister, comparing it to statements once made only about dictators like Muammar Gaddafi.
Berisha stressed that although 24 hours have passed since the interview, Rama has remained completely silent. In conclusion, he highlighted that no member of the prime minister's family has reacted to these accusations.
"This statement in the European Parliament was made only for dictators like Gaddafi and never for any other leader of a free European country."
The MEP's statement in the Albanian media is the most serious indictment made personally against Edi Rama and his family by a prominent figure in the European Parliament. And although 24 hours have passed, Edi Rama has not opened his mouth. He has been silent as a blade of grass.
"No member of Edi Rama's family has reacted. Rama and his family members transport money abroad."
