"Ballon d'Or" and world champion, but Rodri surprises everyone

Amidst uncertainty over his future at Manchester City, Rodri has attracted attention with an unusual choice for one of the world's greatest footballers.

The Spanish midfielder was pictured travelling on Ryanair to England as he returned to join the team for the new season. Rodri, who was named the World Cup's best player, tried to go unnoticed, wearing sunglasses and a hat.

However, the detail that received the most attention was his small suitcase, personalized with the name "Rodri", the Spanish flag and his jersey number.

The images of the footballer in the queue for a regular flight immediately sparked reactions on social media. “Why is Rodri boarding our Ryanair flight?” one fan wrote humorously, while another commented: “Imagine boarding Ryanair and seeing Rodri in the same queue as you.”

Meanwhile, the trip comes at a time when his future at Manchester City remains uncertain. Rodri has one year left on his contract and has been linked with a possible move to Real Madrid or Barcelona.

City are reported to have rejected an initial bid of around £38.5m from Barcelona, while a subsequent bid of £55m was also rejected. The English club could be tempted by a bid in excess of £60m.

Rodri is expected to return to Manchester City's training ground, but it is not yet known whether he will take part in training. He is also not expected to play in the Community Shield.

In the pre-match press conference, Enzo Maresca confirmed that Rodri had returned to the club's premises and said that he had greeted him with a hug, leaving open any possibility for his future.

Meanwhile, City are also monitoring midfield options, with Enzo Fernandez one of the names mentioned as a target. Chelsea, however, are demanding around £120m for the Argentine.

For now, Rodri remains a part of Manchester City, but a simple trip with Ryanair has been enough for fans to return attention to the future of the Spanish star.
