Sad: 15-year-old Apolonia academy footballer passes away

Sad news has shocked the Cura family and the Fier community. 15-year-old Noel Cura, a young football talent and part of the Apolonia Academy, has passed away after a long battle with a serious illness.

Noeli was diagnosed with an aggressive brain tumor in January 2025 and urgently needed treatment abroad. After an appeal for help, thousands of Albanians came together and provided funds for his treatment in record time.

Despite treatment, Noel's condition worsened. The news of his passing was announced by his father, lawyer Artan Cura.

"It is with deep sadness and great pain that we announce that our dear son Noel Cura passed away today. May you be remembered, my son," he wrote.

Noel will be remembered as a loving boy passionate about football, who at a very young age faced a difficult battle and united thousands of people around hope.
