The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, in a press conference from the Blue headquarters, said today that Alqi Bllako has been appointed advisor to President Bajram Begaj, after his release from prison for the incinerator affair.
Referring to the Bllako case, Berisha said that the arrest of Ergys Agas may have been negotiated by Prime Minister Edi Rama, promising the businessman favors in return.
"If this is a negotiated arrest, there is no question that it is an arrest negotiated by Edi Rama. And then a process is carried out like in the case of Ilir Beqaj, who is told you ate lunch with European money in your restaurant and you are sentenced to that, even though on the other side there are 300 million in health concessions and not a word is said. Even the deputy minister, who was his cousin, was released altogether.
So, we are dealing with a case where Edi Rama manages, through the control he has with SPAK, to repeat it... or to do as they did with Alqi Bllako. Do you know where Alqi Bllako is today? He is an advisor to Haram Begaj, sentenced to prison for the thefts he committed in the fuel stations, now he is an advisor to Bajram.
"Whoever pays more, goes higher. There is none here," said Berisha.
The presidency has meanwhile reacted directly, emphasizing that Bllako has not had and does not have any connection with the institution.
"In response to the interest of journalists regarding the claim that Mr. Alqi Bllako is an advisor to the President of the Republic, we clarify that Mr. Alqi Bllako has never been and is not an advisor to the President of the Republic and has no relationship with this institution.
"The Presidential Press Office makes this clarification to avoid any misinformation regarding the composition of the cabinet of the President of the Republic," the reaction states.
Alqi Bllako, former LSI and SP MP, was convicted in connection with the Tirana incinerator, and left the cell in November of last year.
The Special Court sentenced the former MP to 4 years in prison, but due to the summary trial, the sentence was reduced to 2 years and 8 months in prison.
In addition to the prison sentence, Alqi Bllako was banned from holding public office for 5 years.
