Trump proposes renaming the Strait of Hormuz: Call it Trump Strait

Amid heightened tensions in recent days in the Middle East, US President Donald Trump has suggested changing the name of the Strait of Hormuz.

Claiming that the US has full control, he has surprisingly proposed that the strait be named after him.

"Now that we have it under US control should we change the name from the Strait of Hormuz to Trump Strait???," Trump wrote on Truth Social.

Just a few days ago, Trump also ordered the name change of the lake between the US and Canada, from Lake Ontario to Lake America.

The statement on Hormuz comes after several heated days of exchanges of fighting.

A US attack in Iran the night before killed 5 people attending a wedding and injured dozens more.

Iran immediately retaliated, launching a barrage of missiles and drones at US bases in Jordan, Bahrain, Kuwait and Iraq.

Later in the day, Saudi Arabia said Iran also attacked a ship in Hormuz, killing two sailors.
