Israel destroys Hezbollah underground complex in southern Lebanon

The Israeli military announced that it has destroyed a large underground Hezbollah compound in southern Lebanon, using more than 1,000 tons of explosives.

According to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), the compound was located under the Ali Taher ridge and included two tunnels with a total length of over 2 kilometers. It housed a command center for Hezbollah's Badr unit, missiles, unmanned aerial vehicles, anti-tank weapons, mines and explosives.

The explosion was so powerful that it caused seismic activity equivalent to a magnitude 4.1 earthquake. The tremors were also felt in Saida, about 40 kilometers away.

Residents of the area described the moment of the explosion as shocking, saying that houses shook and many people fled towards Beirut.

The IDF said the destruction of the complex completes an operation to eliminate eight tunnels and create a "security zone" near the border with Israel.

Meanwhile, Lebanese media are reporting new Israeli attacks in several areas of southern Lebanon. There has been no public reaction from Hezbollah or the Lebanese government to the operation.

According to data from the Lebanese Ministry of Health, 4,362 people have been killed in Lebanon during the conflict, while Israeli authorities report 40 soldiers and four Israeli civilians killed.
