Today, the Tirana court ordered the security measure of "imprisonment" for 55-year-old Qani Muça, who injured the employee of the Territory Protection Inspectorate, Ilirjan Gavelli, with a pistol three days ago. The incident happened after IMT had gone to demolish his apartment.
Qani Muça is charged with the criminal offenses of "attempted murder against public officials" and "unlicensed possession of weapons". In court, Muça claimed that the conflict arose after the provocation of the inspector, who told him that "you didn't want to get in, you're sitting between 4 streets now".
Meanwhile, his lawyer requested at the hearing that the charge be changed to "attempted murder in a serious psychological state", but the request was not accepted by the Court.
The lawyer said that the weapon with which the injury was inflicted was not Qani Muça's, but that of the IMT employee. According to her, an amount of 80,000 euros was stolen from Hoxha's collapsed apartment. She also stated that the demolition was carried out after Muca refused to give the land for the construction of a palace.
"The incident happened against my client's will, it was not premeditated, it came from a serious psychological situation as his house was being demolished and on the other hand provoked by the IMT employee. We requested the requalification of the matter. I think that the court, in the impossibility of the evidence, decided to accept the request of the prosecutor, but we will also follow the appeal in this case as there are two elements that had to be taken into account.
Qani Muça has stated earlier that the weapon of the crime was not his, but that of the IMT employee. So the cameras must be opened and it can be seen that my client was not armed and that he was earlier. He further stated that the IMT employees also stole a sum of money of around 80 thousand euros which he had in the building that collapsed. He was provoked by the IMT employee who told him that since he did not want entrance to the building, he should stay between the four streets" , said, among other things, the lawyer of Qani Muça.
