SP requests 60 days of exclusion from hearings and a report to SPAK for Agron

The Socialist Party has requested disciplinary action against MP Agron Shehaj and the referral of the case to the Special Prosecution Office (SPAK), following the incident that occurred today, when the leader of the Opportunity Party stole the confidential document of the law on the US loan from the Parliament offices.

In a request addressed to the Speaker of the Assembly, Niko Peleshi, and the Secretariat for Procedures, Voting and Ethics, the Socialist Party requests that Shehaj be excluded from participating in committees and plenary sessions for 60 days.

According to the letter, during the review of the direct loan agreement between Albania and the United States of America, within the framework of external military financing, the deputies were informed that the document contained classified information and could only be consulted in the premises designated by the Parliament, after signing the confidentiality declaration.

The SP claims that Agron Shehaj, after appearing in the room where the document was kept, requested to take the physical copy with him, but was opposed by the Assembly staff.

The request states that the MP "forcibly took the material and left with it," while a female Assembly advisor, who according to the document followed him to retrieve it, fell down the stairs and suffered injuries.

"Deputy Agron Shehaj, with his repeated violent and aggressive behavior, has put the councilor in danger, who was found defenseless in the face of this violent and unacceptable behavior," the filed request states.

In addition to the disciplinary measure, the Socialists are demanding that the case be referred to SPAK for investigation, claiming that the deputy's actions may constitute criminal offenses related to the illegal receipt of classified information, misappropriation of documents, obstruction of the duty of a public official, and violation of provisions for the protection of state secrets.
