The meeting of the Democratic Party Parliamentary Group has concluded.
During the meeting, the group decided to submit a request for a parliamentary investigation regarding the KAYO affair.
The initiative comes after denunciations made public by former Deputy Prime Minister Arben Ahmetaj, accompanied by wiretaps.
Earlier, Democratic MP Klevis Balliu said that with the blessing of Prime Minister Edi Rama and Belinda Balluku, this company has created partnerships with dubious international companies, which according to him violates the trust of allies.
"The KAYO affair is not a matter for the Ministry of Defense. It is an affair that affects national security, Albanian taxpayer funds and Albania's credibility as a NATO member country. This affair holds Rama and Balluk responsible, shady deals like KAYO and questionable partnerships like the one with elbit system show that corruption is damaging the country's defense capability and is violating the trust of our allies. There is no line dedicated to KAYO in the state budget, there is no audit, there is no transparency on contracts, funds and sovereign guarantees that could burden Albanian citizens. More worrying is the fact that the legal framework was changed at the very moment it was needed, to pave the way for the Ministry of Defense to contract with companies where the Albanian state does not exercise real control. Why was the Albanian state allowed to remain a minority in a strategic defense company. Who verified Ron Yeffet and his connections. Why is there a lack of transparency on state funds, contracts and guarantees. Why does the balluk continue to meet with Ron Yeffet even after these facts have been made public," said Balliu.
