"What mental misery" - Rama reacts after the attack on his MP Luarasi

Prime Minister Edi Rama has reacted after the attack on Socialist MP Iris Luarasi, who was "ambushed" by several activities that occurred in the premises of a shopping center in Tirana, describing her as a thief.

"What mental misery," Rama writes next to the video of the moment when activists with cell phones in their hands are filming Luaras.

"Thief! Don't speak on behalf of women! You are not the defender of women! You do not represent women! Yes, you! If you did, you would not join the government of crime! We have no shame at all, shame on you! Thief!", activist Arvina Lleshi addressed MP Luarasi. The latter responded: What a shame!

This brought the reaction of the MP herself, who said that she would denounce the activists who confronted her in the shopping center and described her as thieves, filming the clash with cell phones in their hands. The reaction of Deputy Prime Minister Albana Koçiu was also not lacking, who considered the case an ugly act of violence.

We recall that in a video message, Luarasi said:

"Today, as I entered Parliament, some girls ambushed me. With swearing, insults, mockery, and filming the spectacle they had prepared. And of course, for a moment I was hurt, not because I can't handle criticism, but because I saw young girls who believed that humiliating a woman was the way to protect women. They called me a thief, but I didn't let anyone steal my honor, my work, and my name."

And even less so some girls who have decided to call violence activism. They accused me of not protecting women while they were verbally assaulting a woman themselves. This is truly ironic but unfortunate. To women's advocates with insults on their lips, phones in their hands, and a single woman surrounded. I do not claim to represent these women who confuse activism with aggression, protest with ambush, and courage with insult.

But I represent such questions other women and girls who work and raise their voices with dignity. Those who do not need a group, a camera and a victim to make you feel powerful. I face criticism, I answer questions, but I do not accept slander and threats and violence. Therefore, I will denounce this case and let justice act, because insult is not protest, humiliation is not activism and less violence just because it is exercised by girls.
