Trump: War with Iran won't end until after midterm elections in November

"I think the war will end right after the election because they can't hold out anymore," Trump said of Tehran on Wednesday.

He made the comments while en route to Texas for the party's first convention for the midterm elections.

"Immediately after the elections, oil prices will drop significantly. I think it will take a little longer than the midterm elections," he said.

At the convention in Texas, Trump repeated some of these lines, saying that the price of oil would fall "as soon as we win the war with Iran."

In his speech, he also referred to the discontent among some Americans over the issue: "Guys come to me and say, 'I wish you hadn't made the war in Iran. Now we're out of gas.'"

The midterm elections will be held on November 3, and Republicans are in danger of losing their control of Congress.
