The plane carrying Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky from Moldova to Oslo came very close to an incident with a drone, Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store announced.

Store told Norwegian public broadcaster NRK that Zelensky's plane was "almost hit by a drone" during takeoff from Moldova. The prime minister did not provide further details about the incident or clarify who the drone belonged to.

Zelensky had traveled to Norway to attend the funeral of King Harald V. During his stay in Oslo, he held meetings with Prime Minister Store, Finance Minister Jens Stoltenberg, and Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide.

The talks focused on Norway's military support for Ukraine, particularly air defense systems, as well as civilian assistance. Store said Zelensky told him he had spent a difficult night on the phone, getting information about where the missiles had hit.

"It is a very dramatic situation and leaves a strong impression," said the Norwegian prime minister.

After the funeral, Zelensky left Norway and traveled to Canada, where he was expected to hold meetings with the country's leaders.

Store also said that Norway and Ukraine are exploring the possibility of cooperation on air defense systems. According to him, the goal is not only to provide systems to Ukraine, but also to create an industrial solution that would enable Ukraine to produce them itself.

"Simply put, they have holes in the roof," Store said, referring to Ukraine's dire need for protection against air strikes.
