The Prime Minister of Albania Edi Rama and the President of Turkey, Recep Tayip Erdogan are known for a very close friendship with each other, but it seems that this is now a thing of the past. Diplomatic sources suggest that they have cut off communication with each other and the reason is the non-fulfillment of the condition that Erdogan set for Rama during his visit on January 17 this year in Albania.

He stated at the time that the Turkish people were "deeply hurt" by the fact that in Albania the Hizmet cleric Movement, Fethullah Gulen, found scope and asked the head of the Albanian government to take concrete steps to fight the Gülenists as a "precondition" for friendship and partnership between two countries.

But Erdogan's request was rejected by Prime Minister Edi Rama. A few days after the visit, the head of the Albanian Government told the media: "We owe nothing to the President of Turkey and Turkey, just as the President of Turkey and the Republic of Turkey owe us nothing, because between friends and a brotherly friendship there is no debt ", said Rama.
It seems that from this moment there was a rift in the Erdogan-Rama friendship.

Recently, the Ministry of Health has canceled the tender for the accommodation of Turkish doctors and nurses who will serve at the Memorial Hospital in Fier. The tender was worth a limit fund of ALL 388 million planned to be spent from the Albanian government budget. According to the published contract, the maximum number of people who will sleep in the hotel will be 38.

In the official announcement published on May 30, it is stated that the tender was canceled pursuant to Article 98 of Law no. 162/2020, dated 23.12.2020 "On Public Procurement", with the justification that in the first phase no suitable bid was submitted.

But, the tender was with one phase and with an economic operator and in the tender were presented 5 private entities "Hotel" from the city of Fier, with bids 15% -20% less than the limit fund.

This raises doubts that this decision may be related to the rupture of the Rama-Erdogan friendship. During May, rumors circulated that the Turkish president had sent back 13 doctors, due to Rama's failure to meet the condition.
It is not known how true such a thing is, but the recent decision of the Ministry of Health adds even more doubts.

Another fact worth mentioning is the Namazgja mosque. It was promised that it would open its doors on the day of Eid al-Fitr, but about a month has passed since that day and the doors of the largest mosque in Albania in the center of the capital continue to be closed. It seems that it all has to do with the non-"cleansing" of the Albanian Muslim Community by the Gulenists.
