The death toll has risen to six and 15 others were injured after a shooting at a market square in Krakow, Poland, this afternoon.

According to a statement by local police on the social network X, a person drove into the square at around 3:00 PM and began shooting "randomly at people from his car."

Videos are circulating on social media showing the moment the perpetrator opens fire from a car. The footage shows a black car driving through the market area, while gunshots are heard and people run for cover.

Authorities say the suspected perpetrator was a Polish citizen and acted alone. He was shot and injured during a shootout with police near the square. According to police, the person was dressed in military clothing and used a long, military-style firearm.

Among the 15 injured are two police officers. One of them is in serious condition after being shot three times during a confrontation with the suspected perpetrator. Meanwhile, the six victims are four women and two men.

The incident took place in Krakow's main square, one of the most popular tourist destinations in Poland's second largest city.
