In Blendi Fevziu's show Opinion, I was invited to discuss the case of a girl from Librazhd, who was raped, threatened and shot in a private moment. And, this filming spread everywhere, violating her basic freedoms and rights, thus provoking a fierce public debate.
I based my discussion on a few points, which I think best explain the case of violence and public trial, which was done to this girl.
The first and most important thing that must be said in this debate is that the girl from Librazhd was a hostage in that family, and not married. She, being a minor, was taken from her house, and sent to the house of her hostages (read: mother-in-law), to live with and serve them. The girl for three years allegedly married, only once met her husband. What kind of marriage is this? What is marriage - cohabitation with the husband or cohabitation with his parents ?!
Living with them, therefore, makes him a hostage and not in a marital relationship. And, her action can not be qualified by any criteria as an act of adultery, but an act of liberation. And, her "father-in-laws", not being aware of the injustices they have done to her for three years, they also do a great injustice to the girl, through filming trying to humiliate and lynch her publicly. An act that is prohibited by any convention. But, with this video, they did not humiliate the girl, but in fact, they discovered the hell in which the girl has lived for many years now, even through their own fault.
Second: This case brings to the surface once again the double standard of our mentality on morality. Because men are judged by other standards, and women are judged by completely different standards. For what men praise and exalt, women stone them. Now since physical stoning is not done, it then turned into a virtual public stoning. The example that best explains this is that none of the pedophile teachers who were recently discovered by the show "Piranjat" were publicly prosecuted and lynched, as was done to this "bride" without a husband from Librazhd. I repeat, that this moral trial came and was forced by the moralists who moralized not that they aim for justice, but to elevate themselves to superior positions, at the expense of a victim.
And fourth: I said this with a broken heart, for women who instead of showing solidarity with the victim, attack him. Although I follow the principle of Elena Ferrante that I do not speak ill of a woman, even if she attacked me in the harshest way, I did not have cracks without expressing criticism during the show about them, who threw the first stone against that girl.
And, finally, let this case of "public lynching" serve to increase activism against the mistreatment of women and especially vulnerable girls and early marriages, forced marriages, in the name of custom and the devil and the son. And, also let it serve against public lynching.
