After receiving the title 'Sir', Lewis Hamilton has announced that he is in the process of changing his name to include his mother's last name.
The seven-time Formula One world champion is starting his final preparations ahead of the new season that begins in Bahrain this weekend.
Speaking at the Dubai Expo 2022, the 37-year-old revealed he is in the process of changing his name to include his mother's last name, Carmen.
"I'm really proud of my family's name: Hamilton," he said.
"In fact, none of you can know that my mother's family name is Larbalestier and I am ready to put it in my name, because I don't fully understand the whole idea of why, when people get married, the woman loses her last name.
"I really want her last name to continue with her last name Hamilton.
