Manchester United seek it, Casemiro wants real departure

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti says midfielder Casemiro wants a "new challenge" and leave the club as Manchester United are close to a deal worth up to 70m euros.

Talks have progressed quickly and United are optimistic that the deal for the 30-year-old Brazilian will be completed in the coming days.

Casemiro trained with Real on Friday.

"Negotiations are ongoing now, he is still our player, but his desire is to leave," Ancelotti said.

"I've spoken to him. Casemiro, for what he has done and the person he is, we must respect this desire," added the Italian coach.

United manager Erik ten Hag refused to comment on Casemiro's speculation at his press conference on Friday, saying: "I can't say anything."

United's deal for the player is for an initial 60m euros plus an additional 10m euros.

Casemiro, who has been with Real since 2013, winning three La League titles and five Champions Leagues, is not part of the Madrile side in the challenge to Celta Vigo in La Liga on Saturday.
