International Weightlifting Federation to hold Electoral Congress in Tirana

Albania was selected among the ten candidate countries to hold this congress. The federation named Albania a 'neutral' country, given that no candidate for the leadership positions of this federation are Albanians.

Federation Secretary General Mohamed Jaloud said he had much interest from a host of countries to organise the congress, while departing President Mike Irani expressed happiness that Albania had been elected.

"This is an important congress, as we have been asked by the international Olympic committee to address three issues. First, updating the statute, which has been closed, clearing the sport of doping and we are happy to have reported zero cases from Tokyo 2020 and now the elections", he said.

He was also the head of the Albanian Olympic Committee, Fidel Ylli.

"We are happy to be elected to organise the Electoral Weightlifting Congress. We are confident that we will succeed in organizing an excellent event," Star said.
