The Selenica Municipal Council has convened in an extraordinary session, where the focus of the discussions was the opposition to the project for the merger of the Municipality of Selenica with the Municipality of Vlora.
During the meeting, the mayor of Selenica, Nertil Bellaj, also reacted, expressing his position against this merger.
He argued that the Municipality of Selenica should continue to function as a separate local unit, emphasizing that merging with Vlora would harm the representation and development of the area.
Bellaj presented a number of arguments in support of this position, emphasizing that Selenica has its own identity, territory and specific needs, which, according to him, require an independent administration. He reiterated that he will continue to oppose the unification project and protect the interests of the residents of the Selenica Municipality.
