The Municipality of Poliçan held an emergency meeting of the Municipal Council today.

The purpose of this meeting was to approve, by the council's votes, the non-dissolution of the Poliçan municipality.

Initially, at the meeting chaired by the chairwoman of the Poliçan Municipal Council, Mimoza Lulaj, the mayor of Poliçan, Adriatik Zotkaj, was present. After arguing that none of the points proposed in the government's report on the merger of the Poliçan municipality are valid, he declared that "it would be a shame for the Parliament if it votes in favor of the merger of this municipality."

Zotkaj emphasized in his speech that the division and unification of a municipality can only be done with the consent of the community, and the community is against it.

He emphasized that the Poliçan municipality should be a municipality because it currently has 318 businesses that are thriving every day and more, has mountain and industrial tourism, has implemented projects for youth, the elderly, etc., and two standards were used for the approval of its merger.

Afterwards, the councilors were introduced to the report of the Commission established by the Municipal Council to conduct public hearings with citizens, which expressed their deep indignation at this government proposal, which they consider absurd and unjust.

After the discussions of the municipal councilors concluded, all councilors (15) confirmed their resignation, in case the dissolution of the Poliçan municipality is voted on in parliament.

At the end of the meeting, a vote was taken and with the votes of 15 members of the Municipal Council, the draft law on Territorial Administrative Division was voted "against" which proposes the merger of the municipality of Poliçan and its unification with Berat.
