Fans at Taylor Swift's Eras tour concerts at Seattle's Lumen Field on July 22 and 23 caused seismic activity equivalent to a 2.3 magnitude earthquake. This was reported by CNN, citing the analysis of seismologist Jackie Caplan-Auerbach.
Swift fans in Seattle snapped up tickets for both nights, with 72,171 seats at Saturday's concert, breaking the record of 70,000 set by U2 in 2011.
The over-enthusiasm of the fans has created an earthquake effect. The phenomenon is called Swift Quake.
"I collected data from both concerts. I noticed right away that it had a virtually identical wave pattern. The music, the speakers, the rhythm: all this energy can penetrate the earth and shake it," explains the seismologist.
I guess I should show the date. Swifties > Seahawks fan.

(except data from the concert may not be caused by the fans--it may be the sound system, so not really a fair comparison). pic.twitter.com/szwowOYQFi
