In Afghanistan, the Taliban on Sunday began enforcing an order requiring all news anchors to cover their faces during the broadcast.
The order is in the wake of the tough line measures that have been condemned by human rights activists.
On Sunday, most female news anchors appeared with their faces covered as the Taliban government began implementing the decree.
The Ministry of Information and Culture had previously announced that the decision was "final and non-negotiable".
A news anchor on TOLOnews television said covering the face is an imposed culture.
After regaining power in August last year, the Taliban appeared to be moderating their attitudes toward women compared to when they were in power from 1996-2001.
But in recent weeks, they have returned to the hard line, confirming the concerns of rights activists and further complicating the Taliban's relationship with the international community.
Earlier this month, the Taliban ordered all women in public to be covered from head to toe, leaving only their eyes visible.
The decree said that women should leave the house only when necessary and that male relatives would be punished if women violated the women's dress code.
The Taliban leadership has also banned girls from attending school after the sixth grade, reversing earlier promises by Taliban officials that girls of all ages would be allowed education.
