Former Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku was informed today by SPAK of the final charges regarding a file that no longer only talks about tenders.

The Special Prosecution Office accuses him of nine episodes of violating equality in tenders, passive corruption, corruption of high-ranking officials, two cases of concealment or false declaration of assets, and laundering of proceeds of crime related to two immovable properties.

So, the criminal position of the former Deputy Prime Minister is today significantly more serious than in the first months of the investigation. But one thing is missing, SPAK's new request to the Parliament for authorization of her arrest!

SPAK has once requested the arrest of Balluk. On December 16, 2025, the Prosecution Office turned to the Assembly for authorization, but on March 12, the parliamentary majority rejected the request. One of the arguments used at the time by the Socialists was that there was no corruption charge against Balluk.

Today, this argument no longer exists. SPAK itself has charged Balluk with not one, but two charges of passive corruption, in addition to money laundering and concealment of assets.

Then the question arises:

If SPAK thought the arrest was necessary when the case was lighter, why isn't it turning to the Assembly again now that the charges have become more serious?

This is the greatest injustice of SPAK and in particular for the prosecutor of the case Dritan Prençi, who in this file has not imposed any security measures for the Balluku file, nor for businessmen Pandeli Carapulin, Bashkim Ulaj, Igli Tare, etc., nor for other officials such as Erald Elezi or Gentian Gjylin.

The only one who is doing prison for all of these people is Evis Berberi, former director of the Albanian Anti-Corruption Agency.

This new standard of Prosecutor Prençi and SPAK will be marked in the calendars of justice, who have issued security measures of "prison arrest" for every possible person, including businessmen and journalists, while also amnestied one of the most talked about persons for corruption, Belinda Balluku.

Of course, Balluku enjoys the presumption of innocence, but if all ordinary citizens were treated the same as her, then no one would raise the claim for lifting Balluku's immunity.

But when Dritan Prençi hits simple people hard and pardons Balluk, he must give an explanation to Albanian citizens who are protesting every day against injustice: What deal did you make with Balluk, Mr. Prençi?!

Of course, Prosecutor Prençi will argue that the investigation continues and we have split into another faction, but this is a manipulative trick on the public, since the investigations into Balluk have already been closed.
