Efforts for peace - Zelensky ready to meet with Putin at the G20 Summit in Miami

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said he is ready to meet with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, at the G20 Summit expected to be held in Miami in December, if both leaders are officially invited.

In an interview with Deutsche Welle, Zelensky said that "we need to meet, talk and make decisions," leaving open the possibility of a direct meeting on the sidelines of the summit.

On the other hand, the Kremlin has not yet made a decision on President Putin's participation in the G20. Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told Interfax that "we do not know yet whether we will go to Miami," while foreign policy adviser Yuri Ushakov added that the issue of participation has not yet been discussed in Moscow.

Peskov reiterated Moscow's well-known position that if the Ukrainian president wants a meeting with Putin, he should come to Moscow.

However, Zelensky's statements put the spotlight on the possibility of a direct dialogue between the two leaders, if the G20 summit brings both sides to the table.

This development comes at a time when Russia's participation in the Miami summit remains unclear, while Zelensky has expressed his willingness to go and seek a meeting with Putin, if he is present.
