The Russian military has made significant advances in eastern Ukraine, where it has shifted much of the war, putting the Ukrainian military under more pressure than at any time since the first weeks of the war.

The battle for Ukraine's old industrial centre known as the Donbas is likely to decide the fate of the Russian invasion.

This comes as Ukraine is beginning to accept that Russia has priority in some eastern areas - Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky has said russians could kill up to 100 Ukrainian soldiers a day in Donbas.

Zelensky has described conditions in eastern Ukraine as extremely difficult, despite some of their most trained forces already stationed in the east due to an eight-year war with Russian-backed separatists.
