The Tirana Court has decided to release 13 people arrested in the context of the protests in recent days in the capital, imposing lighter security measures on them.
The decision was taken this Tuesday, October 20, following the review of issues related to the detentions following the rallies held in Tirana, accompanied by clashes between protesters and the Police, as well as damage to public and private property.
For 12 of the suspects, the measure of obligation to appear before the prosecutor's office has been imposed, while for one of them the court has also imposed a ban on approaching public institutions and participating in gatherings, without prior authorization from the court.
The 13 people are suspected of resisting police officers and destroying property. The court has deemed their arrest in flagrante delicto lawful, but has ordered their immediate release, unless they are being held for another security measure or a sentence.
The decision comes at a time when protests that began on October 13 have continued for several days in Tirana, with the participation of students, high school students, and citizens, who have raised concerns about education, the costs of study, and the political situation in the country.
