A mother, unable to bear the indescribable pain of losing her only child in an accident, has decided to end her life at an assisted euthanasia clinic in Switzerland.
After a year where, as Wendy Duffy claims, she struggled with herself with thousands of thoughts running through her mind every day, she declared:
"I want to die and this is what I'm going to do. My life, my choice," clearly portraying her attitude towards the next step.
Speaking to the Daily Mail newspaper, she speaks of "a pain that does not go away, a void that cannot be filled and an everyday life that has lost its meaning."
According to reports, Wendy Duffy has already notified family members of her intention, but without disclosing the exact date of the trip, to avoid possible legal consequences.
Her application was reviewed by the Swiss clinic Pegasos, where it was assessed by a special committee of psychiatrists, who studied her medical history. She does not currently suffer from any physical illness or mental disorder.
According to reports, Wendy had previously attempted suicide without success, which influenced her decision to seek a controlled and legal procedure. The clinic operates as a non-profit organization, with those interested covering the costs of the procedure.
She chose to share her story publicly shortly before the trip, describing the decision that, according to her, she made with full conscience.
