When 24 hours have passed since the murder of Artan Myrtaj , or as it was otherwise known in Saranda as " Tani i Rruzhdiut ", the Saranda criminal police have not been able to identify and locate the perpetrators of this murder that shocked the coastal city.
The murder of Myrtaj is a continuation of the armed attacks that have been carried out in this city and has the same criminal dynamic as the failed assassination attempt against Thimio Rubati , an event recorded in the center of Saranda in July 2026.
Both in Rubati's case and in the case of Myrtaj, the perpetrators were riding a motorcycle and covered in spacesuits.
After the assassination attempt on Rubati, the perpetrators fled, abandoning the motorcycle in a bay in the area called "Kasollet".
It is believed that they then fled on a boat, unable to be identified by the police to this day.
As for the incident of Myrtaj's murder, the motorcycle has not yet been discovered, despite the fact that the police have conducted searches in Saranda, Ksamil and Delvina.
The situation in the city of Saranda during this summer season has been extremely serious, due to several criminal incidents, in which several people have been killed.
The most serious case was the murder of the Portuguese tourist, in the premises of the "Principotes" bar in Ksamil, followed by yesterday's incident of the murder of Artan Myrtaj.
Myrtaj was executed in the city center, just 67 meters from the Saranda police station. His body lay in the middle of the street for about an hour, seen by many passersby.
Meanwhile, the victim's mother, Artan Myrtaj, arrived at the scene before the Saranda police chiefs.
The serious crime is related to the clash between Ervis Lam's group from Kamza and the Saranda group led by Ramdan Zoto alias Canaj, who is currently in prison.
Artan Myrtaj, the 42-year-old who was executed in the middle of the city of Saranda on Sunday morning, appears to be involved in another criminal incident.
On July 18, 2025, he was arrested for being involved in the injury of 2 people, Gëzim Hajdaraj and Ernest Lame, after a dispute over land on the coast.
Just two days after the injury, he was arrested by the Saranda Police and charged with the criminal offense of "supporting the perpetrator of the crime."
But after several months in prison, he was released, walking freely on the streets of Saranda.
