Interior Minister Taulant Balla has made strong accusations saying that directors and chiefs of police stations sit in bars with criminals, giving them sensitive information about work and police actions.
He says that police officers not only should not sit in the bar during working hours, but they "dare" so much that they even meet inappropriate people, describing it as scandalous and humiliating for policemen who have fallen on duty.
Under these conditions, he called on the Police officers to respect the Code of Ethics that is in force, but has never been implemented.
"In the Code of Ethics it is stated that the leaders of the State Police cannot sit in cafes and restaurants neither during work nor after work, except for family reasons or other reasons that have been previously informed by their superiors, but not only this does not happen, but unfortunately it also happens that directors and chiefs of police stations have inappropriate contacts in the premises, where even sensitive information about work and police actions is conveyed to criminals. Of course also on other roads, but this road that I am talking about is not only as scandalous as the others, but also a humiliating cry for the blood of the Martyrs of the State Police and for every citizen of the Republic of Albania.
Balla made these statements during a meeting with the leaders of the Local Police Directorate of Kukës, where he introduced the new director Artan Bajraktari.
Further, Minister Balla asked the police structures to manage well and show increased care for the flows of vacationers entering or leaving the border crossing points with Kosovo.
