The Minister of Defense, Niko Peleshi, has called a meeting of prefects, mayors and heads of the civil defense system in the country for fire prevention measures during the summer season.

He started his speech by thanking the mayors who participated in this meeting. But, in addition to this, the minister did not spare some of the local officials, who according to him do not know the responsibilities and duties that the law assigns to them in terms of the measures they should take against fires.

"There are also municipalities that do not prioritize civil emergencies. We call it second-hand work. They hire a man there, whose name they often don't even know", said Peleshi.

He emphasized that if it is announced in time, the fire cannot take large proportions.

"If it is announced early, there is no possibility of a large-scale fire. Every time the fire has reached large proportions, we must say that the responsible structures did not function properly", added minister Peleshi.

The minister asked for increased vigilance on the ground and cooperation with the community, while he said the following: "We have entered a very hot season, maybe even hotter than last year, which is expected to affect southern Albania and central Albania, but no territory is excluded. Vigilance must be everywhere, starting with communities. Keep in touch with the elders of the villages", ordered the minister.
