Albania for this season has become one of the most preferred countries for foreigners to spend their summer holidays, as the data registers record numbers.
A beautiful destination for visitors and reasonably priced compared to other European countries.
But on the other hand, for Albanians, even a week's vacation in the south has become unaffordable.
According to the Balkan Barometer, a publication of the Regional Cooperation Council, 60% of Albanians cannot afford even 1 week of vacation away from home, due to the difficult economic situation and high prices.
When asked, citizens say that the inability to afford vacations is related to the use of money for more necessary services.
In Albania, 25% of the respondents state that they had difficulty paying their energy bills at least once during the last year.
Meanwhile, according to this report, only 39% of Albanians had the opportunity to take a week's vacation away from home, this figure being the lowest in the region.
At the regional level, Albanians rank first for the impossibility of taking vacations, followed by Montenegrins, with 50%.
For North Macedonia this indicator is 47% and for Serbia 45%. Citizens of Kosovo, the visitors with the highest percentage in our country, think they are able to afford vacations, much more than Albanians.
