Prime Minister Edi Rama asks drivers to be a little more patient regarding the traffic on the Shkodër-Tirana axis.
In a post on Facebook, Rama says that the government is aware that the increase in the flow of visitors this season has aggravated the traffic situation along this axis even more than usual, especially in the Milot-Kashar segment. The head of the government apologizes for this, but says that the good news is that the work to connect Western Albania from North to South with the Blue Corridor has finally entered a concrete phase.
"Feel a little more patience, please! We are closely following the understandable complaints of vehicle drivers on the Shkodër - Tirana axis this summer and we are very aware of the fact that the staggering increase in the flow of visitors in this fantastic season for the tourism industry has aggravated the situation even more than usual of traffic along this axis, especially in the segment Milot - Kashar. Great reward for our persistent efforts, this explosive moment for tourism, but very sorry for the consequence of this long-awaited development, which we will suffer for some time in the absence of the Blue Corridor. The good news is that the comprehensive work, with designs and financing, to connect Western Albania from north to south with the Blue Corridor, a real highway of European standards,
Rama informs that in the segment Thumanë-Kashar the work is continuing at a fast pace and over 40% of the volumes have been realized and that for the segments Milot - Thumanë, Kashar - Lekaj and Lekaj - Fier the competitions have been completed and three contracts are now ready new, who are connecting to start work immediately.
For the Milot-Balldren axis, the construction competition will be opened in Lezhë. Meanwhile, Muriqan-Lezhë, according to the Prime Minister, is the connecting segment with Montenegro. For this, the consultants of the Investment Fund for the Western Balkans (IBIF) are drafting the preliminary project, which is expected to be submitted in December 2023.
Prime Minister Rama says that the Blue Corridor will be the backbone of Albania's tourist infrastructure.
"The Blue Corridor will be the backbone of the tourism infrastructure of Albania 2030, which is taking shape day by day, like the rising star of the Western Balkans. The users of the heavy Shkodër - Tirana axis will no longer endure as much as they have endured, even a little patience and thanks to the Blue Corridor as well as many public works at the local level and very significant private investments in tourism, we will have a touristic coastal Albania one of our great national prides", concludes Rama.
