Before moving on from Arsenal and turning into one of the greatest strikers in history, Thierry Henry showed why he left Juventus and blamed a single man.
The Frenchman was one of the most exciting talents in the world when he joined Juve in January 1999 from Monaco.
He was a wingman at the time and even played as an arm defender. However, he could not take his place in Italy and left the bards for Arsenal in August of the same year and the rest is history.
He would then become one of the greatest attackers in the world. Perhaps, if he had stayed at Juve, the Italians would have enjoyed his talent just like Arsenal fans.
But the goal machine has now revealed why it left Turin. He blames only one man.
"I've loved the club and I would have stayed if it wasn't for one person. I have great respect for Italian football, playing there I understood the mentality of the players. I am of the same generation as the champions, as Andrea Pirlo and Gennaro Gattuso," he tells Football Italia. Italian media speculate that the man Henry is talking about is Luciano Moggi.
Juventus have reacted by recognising the Frenchman's talent, but say there is no guarantee that if he stayed at Juventus he would turn into the striker who made history afterwards.
"Henry became one of the best strikers in the world, but we also made progress after he left. His departure may not make sense at the time, but we did not suffer and there is no guarantee that he would have had the same success at Juventus" statement.
