President Volodymyr Zelensky stated today that the Ukrainian army has killed 4,500 Russian soldiers. He said he has decided to release from prison convicts with more war experience and ex-servicemen.

"When I was elected president, I declared that every Ukrainian is president, because we are all responsible for our state. For our beautiful Ukraine. Now that the confrontation has begun, every Ukrainian is a fighter. In the state of emergency the country is going through, Ukrainians with real military experience will be released from prisons. The punishments they have will be removed and they will make up for the guilt they committed by becoming part of the battle at the most critical points of the fighting. The decision is not easy to make from a moral standpoint, but it is beneficial to our defense. "Protecting Ukraine is our biggest task," Zelensky said.

He asked the representatives of the European Union for Ukraine to become part of the Union by launching a special procedure.
