The High Court has assessed that the Tirana Court is competent to review the appeal of Mayor Erion Veliaj against the prosecutor's decision not to launch investigations into his complaint against "Nesti Angoni".

The Supreme Court's decision obliges the Tirana Court to review Veliaj's appeal, which seeks the annulment of the decision of May 8, 2026, not to initiate criminal proceedings.

The mayor also requests that the court order the registration of criminal proceedings and the conduct of investigative actions in the case.

Veliaj's complaint is related to the document signed by "Nesti Angoni", on the basis of which criminal proceedings were initiated against him.

According to verifications, this person does not appear to exist in the civil status registers.

The Tirana Court will now decide whether the prosecution should continue the investigations.
