The Vetëvendosje Movement has decided to vote in favor of the PDK and LDK candidates, Vlora Çitaku and Kujtim Shala, for the positions of deputy speakers of the Assembly, in the continuation of the constitutive session, which is scheduled for today at 10:00.
The decision was made yesterday evening during an extraordinary meeting of the party's Presidency, with the aim, as stated in the announcement, of ensuring institutional stability after the June 7 elections and avoiding a new round of early elections, which would be the fourth in less than two years.
The ruling party stated that this decision is considered a step of goodwill and that they expect the same constructive reflection from the opposition parties during the process of electing the head of state.
"We expect that after the constitution of the Assembly, this step of goodwill will reflect in their constructiveness, by voting for the president, whether it is a vote against it," the Presidency's position emphasizes.
The statement also mentions the alleged political agreement, highlighting the hope that LDK MP Kujtim Shala, after being elected as vice president, will participate in the session where Bekim Sejdiu is expected to be voted for the post of president of the country.
The LVV leadership also referred to the developments of 2025, when the party had proposed and then replaced four candidates for Speaker of the Parliament, Albulena Haxhiu, Donika Gërvalla, Hekuran Murati and Arbërie Nagavci, before Dimal Basha was elected to this post.
Unlike that situation, the LVV has announced that this time it will not seek to replace the candidates proposed by the PDK and LDK for the positions of deputy speakers of the Assembly, confirming that it will support them with a vote.
