Iran warns of escalation in another strategic strait

Iran has warned of the possibility of the conflict expanding to another strategic strait, signaling the opening of a new front in the Bab el-Mandab area.

According to the semi-official Tasnim news agency, an Iranian military source stated that Tehran may take action in this sea corridor if attacks on Iranian territory or its islands continue.

The Bab el-Mandab Strait, one of the world's most important sea routes, has previously been an arena of tension, where the Iran-backed Houthi group in Yemen has carried out repeated attacks.

Meanwhile, an Iranian military spokesman, Ebrahim Zolfaghari, stated that the situation in the Strait of Hormuz will never return to the way it was before, emphasizing that Iran will decide who can pass through this strategic corridor.

"The authority to grant passage is ours," he said, adding that influence over oil prices remains in Iran's hands.

Zolfaghari also warned that Iran's military power is constantly growing, while criticizing US-backed negotiation efforts.
