Iran opens Strait of Hormuz to non-hostile ships

Iran has already announced that “non-hostile vessels” can pass through the Strait of Hormuz. Several ships from China, India, and Pakistan are already passing through this vital waterway. There are even reports that fees of up to $2 million have been imposed to pass through.

Iran has mocked Trump's claims that talks are underway for a peace deal, saying "the US is negotiating with itself. We will never agree with you," an Iranian military spokesman said.

US President Donald Trump said Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio are leading negotiations with Iran, expressing optimism that a deal is close. An Iranian source told CNN that Tehran is willing to listen to "viable" proposals to end the war.

Iran's comments came after Trump insisted that Iran "very much" wants a deal and that Iran has given the US a "very big gift, of extraordinary value."

"We can say this is regime change" and "we have won this war," the president said at the White House. According to him, Iran has agreed "to never have a nuclear weapon."

Trump's statements immediately impacted oil prices, which fell more than 5% to $94.42 per barrel.
