The institutional crisis in Kosovo is dragging on. For the 16th time in a row, the Kosovo Assembly has failed to be constituted, deepening the political deadlock that has followed since the February 9 elections.

In today's session, which was chaired by Speaker Avni Dehari, the vote on the formation of the Election Commission that would pave the way for the election of the Speaker of the Assembly failed. The proposal failed to secure sufficient votes, which led to the interruption of the session.

The parliamentary session is expected to resume on Saturday, at 10:00.

Despite being the winning party in the elections, the Vetevendosje Movement (LVV) has not yet managed to secure the majority needed to elect its candidate, Albulena Haxhiu, to the head of the Assembly. In previous rounds, she received only 57 votes, while at least 61 are needed for election.

The opposition parties PDK, LDK and AAK remain united in opposing Haxhiu's candidacy, hindering the majority's efforts to break the deadlock.
