"You know that from the beginning, the European People's Party has taken a neutral stance, but we will have our representation there".
Sali Berisha answered reporters' question this Thursday whether he had received an invitation from European right-wing parties for the May 31st and June 1st congress in Rotterdam. So Berisha acknowledged that as chairman of the Democratic Party he did not receive an invitation, while on representation a half-truth said.
Three invitations have arrived at the PD headquarters for this congress, where the two are supporters of Berisha and a supporter of The Oblast. Invitations have been sent to Jorida Tabak, Belind Kallic and Albana Vokshin.
The three have not been invited to Congress as supporters of one or the other in the internal war that has broken out in the PD since September last year, but from the functions they held before Berisha organized the two Kuvens.
Jorida Tabaku has been invited as deputy leader of the PD with a focus on the DP's foreign relations. So for European rightists, Tabaku is still deputy leader of this party, despite Berisha dismissing her since the December 11th Assembly, along with Basa and the other three deputy speakers.
Neither Belind Kellici nor Albana Vokshi go to this Congress as supporters of Sali Berisha. The first goes as chairman of the Youth Forum of the Democratic Party, although he is passing the age of 35 and with a term completed since 2019.
Albana Vokshi, on the other hand, goes as head of the Democratic Women's League, even with a long-term term.
This is the truth of the invitations, despite the fact that in Tirana Sali Berisha may try to interpret these two participations as legitimising his movement within the DP in the eyes of the European right.
The EPP Congress will have several important decisions, including the election of the new President of the European right. However, Sali Berisha's two representatives in this Congress will not be eligible to vote due to the end of the respective mandates. The only one who can vote will be Jorida Tabaku.
